Resumed the hunt after 4 months. Replaced my Spanish Ditto with a Spanish male Sandile so eggs are generated slightly faster. Still, the odds are 1 in 1024 (0.097%) per egg because I also have the Shiny Charm on top of the Masuda Method breeding. The following table lists the number of eggs hatched:
| Date | Eggs hatched |
|---|---|
| 2026-08-24 | 220 |
| 2026-08-23 | 35 |
| 2026-08-22 | 216 |

As soon as I completed the National Dex and obtained the Shiny Charm; a key item that triples the chances of encountering shiny Pokémon; I traded my Spanish Ditto from Pokémon White 2 to Pokémon Black 2 in English and started hunting for a shiny Sandile.
The Masuda Method doubles the chances from 1/8192 to 1/4096 of hatching shiny Pokémon from eggs when the parents were obtained from games with different languages.
Because the Sandile line has the best combination of typing (Ground and Dark) and moves (Ground, Dark, Rock, and Fighting) for farming money and experience by repeatedly defeating the Unova Elite Four, I impulsively decided to start this shiny hunt.
My female Krookodile (nicknamed Bucaneera) has a Jolly nature, giving her 10% more Speed at the cost of 10% Special Attack, and the Moxie ability, which raises Attack by 1 stage (up to a maximum of 6) each time she knocks out an opponent. She accompanied me for much of the 230 hours I spent completing the Pokédex in Generation 5.

Aesthetics was not the deciding factor for this shiny hunt: I didn’t even remember what the shiny version of the Sandile evolutionary line looked like. What I wanted was for my first shiny obtained through the Masuda Method in in my forever save file to be useful.
Forever save file is what the Pokémon community calls the definitive version of a fully completed save file that will never be deleted.
